I saw Dave last night at a college in my hometown in Ashland, WI. I was blown away by his playing. The band was called Happy Apple (drums, bass, sax). Dave is also known as the drummer of the Bad Plus. His technique was impressive, as was his phrasing. He was very interesting to watch too. Reminded me of the way Bill Stewart moves on his kit. If you get a chance check this guy out! He is based in Minneapolis. Later

He's a great player. He reminds me of Jeff Ballard a bit with the way he pulls different sounds out of his kit. The Bad Plus disc is excellent (thanks to Dazzler for the recommendation.) I'll definitely check him out if I get the chance.
